I’ve been an artist on Society6 since 2012. Shuffle that date around and you get 2021 – the calendar year I got to create cover artwork for, along with a planner insert.

Over the years the team at Society6 and I have gotten to know each other pretty well. I designed a custom skateboard, curated their first artist playlist, hosted a collage workshop for their marketing team, and even was featured in a brand video.

That being said, they gave me a lot of creative freedom for this project. The prompt was loosely, “disco” and “fun”. Sort of my work in a nutshell!

I scanned in an image from a vintage magazine and photo composited it together with a stock image of a disco ball, plus a rainbow burst I created in Adobe Illustrator.

Lastly I created a typography lockup for the cover of the calendar, and made a grid layout for the days themselves on the December spread.

The final design is also available as a collage in my Society6 shop, titled “Disco Lounging”.
