Mural for The Other Art Fair

In 2021, Society6 reached out to me with an amazing opportunity: to create a mural for the entrance of The Other Art Fair at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

"Desert garden" was the prompt. I took that direction and ran with it, infusing a summery road trip feel with all around happy vibes.

This mural started in Photoshop using vintage images to make a digital collage, and then turned into a real life mega collage measuring 12’ x 10’! I saved out the background as one piece that was printed on vinyl and pre-installed as a base. From there, I had 25 giant images that were cut out individually and then wheat pasted onto the vinyl.

I printed out pages to act as storyboards to help me remember the order of the layers because my brain functions like Photoshop even when I’m not in front of a computer. The installation took about 4 hours to complete.

Seeing attendees line up for photos in front of this piece during the days and nights of The Other Art Fair made me so happy.

A huge thank you to The Other Art Fair and Society6 for the opportunity, Ali Peugh for collaborating, Claudio Maike for the vinyl install, and Misty Summers for coordinating and assisting.
