Little bursts of inspiration are what I try to look for every day. Here's some things as of late that inspired me/made me happy.

I filled my shower with balloons just because. It's super fun and I'm leaving it like this forever! (aka until the balloons pop).

I went to a Creative Mornings talk last Friday where Jen Gotch spoke about compassion. My favorite quote of the morning was "Everyone is nuts, creatives are just better at exposing it."

I saw my future in this pink floral car while walking down Hollywood Blvd.

Comparison Will Kill You by Julia Walck

This phrase has been on my mind a lot lately.

Honestly sometimes I get jealous. I’ll look at someone else’s art and say, “why didn’t I think of that”, and I’ll try to make my work ‘as good' as theirs.

I have to remind myself: it’s not a contest, it’s creativity. Don’t try to meet someone else’s standards, create your own. ✌🏼

Never Stop Starting by Julia Walck

I can't stop listening to Sylvan Esso's new song, Just Dancing, so I doodled some lyrics.💃

It's on the May Playlist where you can never stop starting listening to the song, too!

Also, how good are these colors in this photo by Eva Roovers? Definitely was inspired to incorporate them into this lil' typographic illustration. Such happy hues!

March '17 Playlist by Julia Walck

Happy March! Apparently, March is National Noodle Month? I just sort of ran with that because I thought noodle type would be super fun... and it is. Time to pack in all that pasta before swimsuit season hits! *You can listen to this playlist with or without noodles.

Here's some highlights from this month's playlist (which you can listen to below):

  • There's a band named Steve Buscemi's Dreamy Eyes, and I think they win for best band name ever.
  • Spoon released another single. I'm seeing them next Monday at The Observatory in Santa Ana; that's a week before their new album comes out so I'm crossing my fingers for a sneak peek!
  • Some new music surprises as of late have been Little Dragon and Sylvan Esso. It's like their new songs appeared out of thin air.
