That Friday Feeling No. 1 by Julia Walck

Shoes from & Other Stories

You know that feeling when Friday hits? That anxious, giddy, happiness that the weekend is just on the horizon? That's "that Friday feeling". A new lil' series of bubbly-bursting-at-the-seams-excited photos posted on Fridays. Things that are just plain inspiring. Like buildings covered in balloons!

Last night, I heard that Geronimo had a new balloon installation at Anthropologie on Beverly Dr. (my old 'hood). So we woke up a bit early and drove the extra 5 minutes to our old Starbucks as an excuse to see these balloons in person!

Here's hoping your day is filled with coffee, glittery shoes and excessive amounts of balloons.

DIY Painted Necklace Anthropologie Hack by Julia Walck

I was in an Anthropologie last week and saw this necklace. I swooned over it but then saw the pricetag. $158?! Come on Anthro... I love you but that's a bit much.

I remembered that had someone gifted me a similar bib necklace that was gold and silver. I instantly thought, "I can make that!" So I did.

SUPPLIES:

  • gold necklace (some suggestions below)
  • 2 colors of acrylic paint, one slightly darker than the other
  • gold paint pen or gold acrylic paint
  • paint brush(es)

NECKLACE OPTIONS:

  1. Paddle Necklace, $16.80
  2. Spike Statement Necklace, $8.90
  3. Stick Bib Necklace, $15.40

HOW TO DIY:

  • Put a paper towel under the necklace

  • Take your lighter paint color and paint the tips of the the necklace, going a little over halfway up.

  • Dabble the darker color on top of the lighter color. Don't worry, you can get messy! It actually adds more style if you do.

  •  Draw little circles/scribbles with your gold pen or paint.

  • Let dry and then wear it out for a night on the town!

Inspiration is Everywhere by Julia Walck

The other day I was just sitting on my couch and I couldn't stop staring at my monstera plant (that I'm slowly killing but trying my best to revive). Then I thought, "I'm going to paint it".

I grabbed a 22" x 30" piece of watercolor paper and taped it to the wall and busted my paints out. I don't think I've ever stood up painting like that before but it felt great.

A few weeks ago something similar happened when rearranging my jewelry. The colors really caught my eye, and I suddenly had the urge to paint them in vivid tones.

It's so strange the times when inspiration strikes. And from the most simple things surrounding you...

Inspiration Overload by Julia Walck

Since I've basically ran out of space around my desk at home, I thought I'd bring the excess inspiration to my desk at work.

It consists of old magazine clippings, photos I found at a flea market, and cutouts from the latest Anthropologie catalogue.

It's great to have so much good color just over my shoulder to glance at, and such an easy way to decorate a space!

A new form of wallpaper.

All this  color and fun textures inspired me to do this lil' doodle.
