June '19 Playlist by Julia Walck

June '19 Playlist | Julia Walck

The June playlist is here! Ft. new tunes from !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Fujiya & Miyagi, Yeasayer, Albert Hammond Jr. and more. 🎶Have a listen below.

Here's the highlights:

  • !!! (Chk Chk Chk) surprised us this week with two new dance-worthy jams. “Off The Grid” has an interesting first 20 seconds, but stick with it!

  • The lyrics to the song “More to Life” by Albert Hammond Jr. are realllly resonating with me right now. "So tonight free yourself, let the music make you someone else. There's more to life than 9 to 5, when your world's a party every night." Yes to more dancing and letting go of work worries!

  • Sleater-Kinney dropped a new song this week produced by Annie Clark of St. Vincent, but you probably could’ve guessed that from the opening vocals.

  • Fruit Bats have a new album out June 21 titled Gold Past Life. They’re playing the Lodge Room in Highland Park on the 22! See you there?

Design Juice Vol. 1 | An Electro Mix For The Creative by Julia Walck

Design Juice Vol. 1 | Julia Walck

Design Juice is an electro-focus-in-the-zone-get-shit-done-kind-of-mix for creatives. It's time to put those headphones on, focus up and make that deadline your bitch.

I’m usually a strictly indie/alternative kind of girl, but when I get in the zone designing sometimes I need something that’ll get me moving. Design Juice seems to do the trick.

*Listening may cause rainbows to shoot from your eyes* Enjoy!

August '17 Playlist by Julia Walck

A little late to the August playlist because I just got back from Panorama NYC at 1:30am yesterday. (Post to come on that later!) Anyways, great new tunes to be heard on August's playlist. Have a listen below.

Here's some highlights:

  • Getting some major Neutral Milk Hotel vibes from LVL UP's song, Hidden Driver.
  • Wolf Parade announced a new album and tour! Sad news is there are no LA shows as of now.
  • I saw !!! at the Echoplex in June and it was honestly one of the best shows I've ever been to... and I go to a lot of shows. For some perspective, I went to 96 shows last year alone (festival bands included). Their song Dancing is the Best Revenge was my favorite song live that night; incredible stage presence. If you get the chance to see them live, DO IT.
  • Really loving The War On Drugs new stuff, and I think you will too.
