August '18 Playlist by Julia Walck

August 2018 Playlist | Julia Walck

The August playlist is here! Ft. new tunes from DeVotchKa, Jungle, Wild Nothing, Delicate Steve and more. 🎶 Have a listen below.

Here's the highlights:

  • Remember that ethereal cinematic track "The Winner Is" from Little Miss Sunshine? Well DeVotchKa is back with more dreamy tunes! Perfect for listening while staring out the window of a slowly moving car pretending you're in an indie film.
  • This wave of new Jungle releases is really making me happy. Their new album For Ever comes out September 14!
  • Big Red Machine is a new collaborative project between Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) and Aaron Dessner (of The National). A bit experimental and a bit of the familiar from both of them.
  • Wild Nothing is back with new music! Catch them at The Regent in October.

July 2018 Playlist | Julia Walck

The July playlist is here! Ft. new tunes from Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, El Ten Eleven, Lykke Li and more. 🎶 Have a listen below.

Here's the highlights:

  • St. Vincent re-worked her track "Slow Disco" and dubbed it "Fast Slow Disco". Pretty self explanatory. Pretty great.
  • Interpol has new tunes! A full length is coming out in August. You can catch them at The Hollywood Bowl in October.
  • M. Ward released an entire album unannounced at the start of June titled What a Wonderful Industry.
  • The Gui Boratto remix of Paul Simon's "That Was Your Mother" has been my go-to running song lately.

June '18 Playlist by Julia Walck

June 2018 Playlist | Julia Walck

The June playlist is here! Ft. new tunes from Jungle, White Denim, Arctic Monkeys, Iceage and more. 🎶 Have a listen below.

Here's the highlights:

  • Newly founded band Wajatta is a mashup between Reggie Watts (yes, the comedian) and John Tejada. It's groovy-lounge-happiness at its finest.
  • I'm sure you're one of the 220 million plus people who have seen Childish Gambino's "This Is America" video. But on the off chance you're not, you should go watch it.
  • White Denim is back with new music! They're from Austin, TX. Which I'm visiting for the first time in a couple of weeks!
  • I've really been into bumping Amber Mark's new song "All the Work" off her latest EP. Especially, when I have a deadline creeping up on me.

May '18 Playlist by Julia Walck

May 2018 Playlist | Julia Walck

The May playlist is here! Ft. new tunes from Tom Misch, Leon Bridges, Lord Huron, Melody's Echo Chamber and more. 🎶Have a listen below.

Here's the highlights:

  • New music from Leon Bridges is the opposite of his latest single "Bad Bad News", it's Good Good News! Even better news: I'll be seeing him at The Greek in September!
  • It's been a while since we've heard from Friendly Fires. They were one of my highschool jams, and they've still got it with their happy, poppy beats as heard on "Love Like Waves".
  • Have you listened to King Tuff's new album yet? "Raindrop Blue" is my favorite track, but it was hard to choose with so many good ones!
  • I just got back from The National's Homecoming Festival where I saw Lord Huron for the first time! It was SUCH a great show. And hearing "Wait by the River" right next to a river? Amazing. "Moonbeam" is another one of my favorites from their new album Vide Noir
