Late to the Party | Fourth of July Weekend / by Julia Walck

It's crazy to think that the Fourth of July is already a week past, and July is already almost half gone! Fourth of July weekend was a long one, and we jam-packed a ton of stuff in.

We explored a bit of Highland Park that Saturday, starting with some pizza at TOWN, and then headed across the street to Block Party Highland Park. After just having our lunch, we came to find out you can bring your own grub to BPHP! Man! Next time...

I got a blackberry champagne snow cone that tasted like heaven, and kicked everyone's asses at shuffleboard. That's right, this place is awesome.

Block Party also has a spicy Michelada (like a Bloody Mary but with beer instead of vodka), and they pair it with a popsicle!

Afterwards we went to Scoops and got some ice cream then went to a piñata store on the corner. Where I bought this massive pineapple. I dub it the piñe-ata!

We walked to Shop Class where I bought some vintage stir sticks, stopped at Highland Park Brewery for another beer and a very frustrating game which was something along the lines of, "get this ring on a string on that hook over there".

Button Mash, a video game bar in Echo Park was our next stop. Sidenote: the wallpaper in Button Mash was designed by Joseph Harmon, and it's one of my new favorite things. The color is so good and it's just so damn quirky!

After a lot of pinball and Frogger, we headed to a vegan burger place at a Whole Foods in Silverlake, then somehow ended up at a pool hall.

And that was just my Saturday....

The summarized version of our Sunday consisted of Smorgasburg in DTLA, beers + Connect Four at Angel City, beers + skee-ball + cornhole at Arts District Brewery, and drunk karaoke to the White Stripes at the Ace

The Fourth of July was filled with family and fireworks. Then to end it, a 2 and 1/2 hour drive back to LA.  #FREEDOM
